I posted a message a couple of weeks ago about suspicious activity on Ebay.
I have now come up with at least 12 Ebay names that are new with no feed back except for one name which now carries 4 negatives as being deedbeat.
My observation has shown a link and similarity with the 12 names. They show recent reistration in mid January and Febuary of this year. The history of registration as anew member are within a day or two of each other.
The names also have been related with buying and selling Motorola equipment. The locations have also shown the similar and evan the same.
I have also noted that items sold by the Ebay names have established Ebay payments accepting major credit cards.
Since all the names are recently registered, it may be a little while longer as to which ones are legit and which ones are not.
For that reason, I will not post the names except for one. From this name, You should be able to follow a similarity as it may lead to other names if you trace it right.
Check out the feedback on "den_mar"
Be carefull as to your findings and business you may do with the names you come up with.
I have forwarded my findings to Ebay asking them to further an investigation with thier registration records.

Astro_Saber, Alan, and anyone else who can't figure it out.
I beleive there is both malicious and scam activity with the ebay names I have been following for the last two months.
I first spotted it with den_mar. I had bid on a few Motorola items den_mar had listed on ebay back in January. Shortly after, a newly registerd ebay user drove the bid price up so high, it would have been cheaper to order the product new from Motorola.
This happened three times within a two week period, each time a differant and newly registerd ebay name did the same thing.
At first , I just figured it was a way to get the price up and the real buyer ends up paying a higher price than what it would have normally sold for.
Shortly after, I see the same Motorola items posted but under the other names that bid up the price. It was unusal that the item was now being sold with the exact same description and format and at a very low price. Alot lower than what they bid on when they did.
I also noted that in some other instances, I would find another Ebayer that I have done business with in the past had some items that were similar and when they were bid on, den_mar and some of the other names had bid the price up beyond what theier items were going for. In den_mars case, you can see the person never fullfilled the transaction .
I have also noted that one of the new Ebay names had a couple of items sold to well established ebayers. I have contacted the winning bidders advising them of my observation. I asked them if I could get name and adress of the seller. Bothe of them advised me that the payment was by an Ebay payment and no mailing adress.
one of the winning bidders had now emailed me back stating that it has been 20 days since he made his payment and has not recieved any shippment yet. He is now going through the non paying bidder and safe harbor.
If you still can't figure out what my point is, I will spell it out for you.
it is VERY POSSIBLE that one or more subjects are usinng Ebay to ripp people off. They will use a new name , post an item on ebay using ebay pay only, collect the money and continue untill that name is no good anymore and then start all over again under a new name.
I have not released the other names on the forum because some of them may be legit.
I only posted den_mars name because he has aquired 4 negatives so far and I noticed a common occurrance with den_mar and the other new names I have kept track of.
I also post this info for you to be aware of dealing with new names on Ebay that use Ebay payments only and post no real name or adress.
As I stated earlier, start with an Ebay search with den_mar. Start looking at Motorola and GE radio items being bought and sold and look at the bid history. Then look at any Ebay name that have the dark glasses and little or no feedback. Check out the registered date. It takes a little time but if you search hard enough, you will see some red flags start to pop up.

Hi:
One thing is for sure ! with

4 Negitives&
NO Postives
clearly shows
this fellow will not be around long. Once
reported to Ebay, they generaly will remove
him / them.
I too get suspicios about persons with a
number of negitive comments ( even with
good ones ) as it shows a lack of communication when / if a problem arises. In
other words if things go well fine, if not,
they could care less and bank on the the majority.
One reason some sellers / buyers on Ebay
are not all the bright to deal with and
one does take a risk.
Especially when one sees ( As per Ebay Policy
all items Sold As-Is ) should be a warning of what not to bid on. (Its NOT a Ebay policy )
I mean really, is it that hard to give assurance to a buyer? I know when I sell
stuff, I always give a warrantee. ( period )
One major reason some persons are able to
sell time and agian to many perosns. Why take a risk and play ( cut throat ) with a good buyer?
I sold a radio to one fellow here awhile
back for a couple of hundered dollars, he
then came back and bought 30 more....Can
you think of what my buyer would have done
if I sent him a piece of JUNK.
I am a firm believer that if you make a
deal with someone, it should be completed.
Again, playing Cut Throat or just trying to
drive a price up shows nothing more than
how greedy some persons are.
Simply dumb !

Monty,
I understand your commitment to giving a warranty when selling and in my earlier days of selling on ebay, i usually did.
I have now posted my items "as is" because I had sold a few items and then refunded money because the buyer claimed it was defective. after receiving the item back from the buyer, I discoverd that they did a bad job on trying to hack it or taking and or replacing parts.
To keep in good standing and a good feedback report card, I bit the bullet on the deals without incident.
Even now with my "as is" policy, I have had a few deals where the buyer complained about the item not working right and stating that they are aware that they bought as is but wanted to know if there was anything I could do to help them out.
when I get this kind of response, I will have them send me back the item and if it shows no sign of the GOLDEN SCREW DRIVER and if I can repair or replace , I will.
PS. Have you been able to find the 110 watt Spectra power cords?

Hi:
I guess I should Clarify !
I have NO Objections</b?> to items being
SOLD AS-IS. Just that many persons
( may not be as honest as you are ) " some others " will attempt to Distort the Discription of a item being sold.
When a / any seller offers a refund or adjustment in light of a As-Is sale shows
integraty and gives assurance to future sales.
As I mentioned, it's when a seller trys to
"pawn it off to a Ebay Policy " should be a
warning flag.
What happens down the road is these Jerks who
are Greedy make it real though for the Legit
Persons who are trying to sell their items.
With the popularity ( and high costs ) of most Motorola Parts and Supplies, many get screwed unless they read the full discription.
Also, I have my source looking for 4 to 5
of those power cords ( Those are the ones that are horribly expensive ) but he will come through, just may be awhile Even I make
misstakes...I thought the 60 Watt Maxtrac
Cable would be the same for the 110 watt Spectras...I got caught on that one.
I do have 100's of those Giant Fuse Holders
though.

Playing "Cut Throat", gee Monty, that sounds like your kind of thing. You love to flame someone for not selling you something and you wanna cry like a baby, when after all you are MR. GREED.

I will say this about ebay -
I bid tonight on a radio, which I knew enough about and what I was going to use it for. I bid what price I was interested in paying for it, didn't pariculary cared if I wanted the item or not.
I ended up getting this message in an e-mail from the winning bidder:
Next time bid right because if you cannot program these type of radios don't use them. Don't try to outbid someone who has the knowledge to use'em.
I can't believe this! It's the second message I've gotten from someone on ebay who is attacking someone for no apparent reason.
Anybody else getting stuff like this!? I've been a member in good standing there for 4+ years, and this is the first I've seen of this crap!

Hi Alex:
Don't let it bother you !!
It happens to alot of persons on
all groups.
As newsgroups, Message Boards, Ebay and other
forms become popular, it tends to bring TROLLS in who have a real problem in communicating.
For whatever there reasons are ( much like
serial psychos ) Useless and unproductive.
All you really have to do is " Consider the
Source "
These adolescents have nothing better to do
than to try and perhaps make you feel bad if
you have beeten them out on a deal.
Fortunitely, this is Ameriaca, and feel free
to BID on anything you wish.
Don't even bother lowering yourself into the
sub-human bowels the trolls live in.
Face it, you will never get rid of them, so
just ignore them. Its truly to bad they make
good boards go bad, but that is why boards like these are Moderated, and thier memberships can be revoked.

Thanks for the comments Monty.
I have reported this to Safeharbor, because if this email was sent during the time of which the auction was open, it's a violation of the Ebay TOS.
We'll see where it goes. I don't really care, if I won, I won... I just hope he gets booted
