Trying to read a GTX900 portable codeplug

I'm trying to read a H11WCD4CB1AN with RSS for the GTX/MAX638 version R02.00.02 and the "GTXLAB" version R01.01.00 and keep getting an error 21, radio not supported. I see the model numbers in the .mdf file so I'm not sure what's wrong here. The computer is a 286 @ 12MHz running DOS 6.20. The aftermarket RIB works on everything else I have (Spectras, Genesis, Maxtracs, STX, etc.) so I don't think it's hardware.

Any clues what I should try next? I'm guessing that this is a good radio since it does tx on ham 900MHz freqs now and I got it from WillBartlett.

My guess would be that Will used RSS version 4.00.00 or .01 to program it. Try going to the setup screen from the main menu (F9) and try the comm test. If that passes, it's a RSS issue and you'll have to upgrade it to the 4.00 series and hack that .mdf file to read/write to it.

We had to go to a rss of 6.x.x to read/write to my handheld a few weeks ago. We tried rss's of 4.x and 5.x, but they didn't work for us.

Plus you have to have the properly edited gtx.mdf file to do it.

Now she transmits on 902 and received around 927mhz and up plus all the other talk-arounds.

A friend of mine is a radio repair tech for some of the local Fire/Police Dept.

He had the proper software for doing it.

I got a modified gtx.mdf file from another ham that we used with his software
to do the programming of both the HT and Mobile which I think is on the ar902
yahoo group file site now.

Now to get the Repeater on the air so that I have someone to talk to other than
myself. Thank goodness Dayton is in two weeks. I need to find a controller and
antenna(s).
