Same question as Station House but for the ht 1000.
What kind of message do you get when you use an
older version of RSS than the radio is currently programmed
with? AND is there a workaround? Can the radio be
de programmed ( if there is such a word). Then reprogrammed
with the older version?
TNX. in advance.

More info: Message I'm getting is the :
RIB PORT COMMUNICATION UNNSUCCESSFUL:

here's the rub, I can program a similar HT1000
with all the same equipment.
Bad controller maybe?
I've cleaned the mic connector.
Good battery radio/ RIB (+power cube + UPS)
radio is on
RIB is on

To answer your question, no you cannot use an earlier RSS to read a radio which has been programmed with newer. You CAN program or clone a saved codeplug into the radio, effectively reverting it back to it's earlier RSS state.

That said, it doesn't appear to be your problem. You would get some sort of 'codeplug too new' error if that were the case. You simply don't seem to be connecting to the radio. The easiest & most effective thing to try is to swap the cover from your 'working' radio. 9 times out of 10, that'll fix your programming problem & you can look into the exact cause afterwards.

If it still doesn't fix your problem, have a good look at the solder connections at all the flex ribbon connectors. Quite often it's simply a cracked/poor solder connection. Lastly, it could be a defective controller board, but that's pretty rare.

Tried changing covers, nada.
Any other ideas?
Probably isnt worth depoting.
Is it even worth looking for a controller?
Maybe I can find a parts radio somewhere.
I was able to get the codeplug out one time.
I have not been able to repeat this though.
Tried different RIBs, different computers,
removing battery overnight. Everything simple
that I could think of.
