saber III antenna connections QUESTION

Hello,
I received a saber III VHF radio and wanted to know which series antenna works of them. I purchased a hand mic (NMN6217B) and it doesnt screw into the radio antenna connection. Apparently the mt1000 antenna screws in fine but not the hand mic connection.
thanks

Saber vs. MT1000

The external speaker/mic/accesssory connectors for these two radios are entirely different as well as unique to each radio.

Saber speaker mics are 6128 or 6129s, as well as a 6225. There may be others as well but these three numbers are good ones for the Saber. Each incorporates the additional antenna mount and connection to the accessory port.

I can't comment on the antenna thread. If the 1000 antenna fits then use it. The Saber is the same thread as the old MX300 radios.

Thanks Tom
seems the mic connection fits my HT1000 (has small pin in middle) yet the antenna connection on my Saber III doesnt have the pin. So im using a mt1000 antenna right now (works) but Im going to need a antenna adapter from MT1000 to HT1000 antenna to work with the hand mic.
thanks again

Saber and MT1000 stuff...

Steve,

The pin in the middle of the thread CAN mean that it's a dipole type antenna. The Saber does NOT work this way, but rather has just the solid, single-conductor antenna terminal. I'm not up on the various MT1000 setups but I do know the Saber's setup. You could do a small survey of how the antennas and radio you have work by using an ohmmeter, I believe. Also, take a look at our sister site at http://www.batlabs.com under Model Specific Information as there might be some helpful stuff there.

Regards,

The antenna connector used on the Saber is the MX type - a 1/4-32 x 7/32 stud. It is also used on the MT1000, HT750/125/1550, GP300, etc. It is also worth noting that the Astro Saber uses a type SF, and not a type MX, connector. They type SF is used on the Jedis, GTX, STX, etc.

I have a handy chart with pictures on my website that lists the connector types for most radios. Go to http://shop.waltel.com/cgi-bin/store/co ... nnas_-_VHF and click on the Handheld Antenna Reference Guide link at the top of the page.

Hope that clears it up a little. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Jeff

I've got to say I bought two antennas for my Astro Saber from Jeff and they were shipped quickly and as described. No problem buying from Waltel.

Best,

Paul :D
