I have 2 CDM1550LS mobil radios.

Model # AAM25SHF9DP5AN. I can only program 18 channels.

Model # AAM25KKF9DU5AN. I can only program 16 channels.

I know these radios have more channels. I am using 6.05 software.

Do I have to send back to Motorola or is it a simple fix

Thanks chipperlt

sometimes the CDM LS radios get a little weird. not to be intrusive, but how are you programming it?

LTR trunking or conventional channels.

if it is LTR trunking, then how are you programming the talk groups?

the more we know the more we can help.

-youve got questions...

The number of channels is correct for your radios. The model# needs to end in "6AN" for you to access any more conventional channels, not to mention use things like MDC signalling in conventional.

If you look on batlabs Model breakdown chart. It shows 5an being 128 channels. Is there a different chart. If so where is it located.

That model breakdown is about 5 years old & is incorrect for current models. The LS & LS+ models caused a change in the model numbers, and '6AN' is the only model that will do more than 16/18 channels, not to mention conventional MDC operation. You have the proof in front of you.

To clear things up. The Newer Model VHF CDM1550LS will do 160 convention channels 15 trunk zones and 16 trunk groups. The 220, 403-470, 450-512 and 700 MHz models will only do 15 trunking zones with 16 trunking groups and 16 convention channels. Once again the newer VHF CDM1550LS is the only mobile in that series that will do 160 conventional channels.....

There are two 'newer' CDM1550LS radios in VHF, the '5AN' and '6AN' model. I know this for a fact, as the incorrect one was ordered in here a couple of weeks ago for a customer. We had to then specify the '6AN' model, in order to get the 160 channel/MDC capability, which I programmed the other day. Whether it's the same for UHF, I don't know.

I just checked with Motorola The 5AN according to them in VHF is no longer available and the 6AN 160 channel VHF is the only thing avalable now with that many channels here in the US. Here is the link to the PDF document on the radio.

Yes, the document you link to must be newer than what's available on MOL, as the MOL document states '16 or 160' for both VHF/UHF. A very recent change, as we did get a VHF '5AN' in just a few weeks ago. Either way, the original poster's 5AN units will not do what he wants.

yeah true, hey I wonder if 700 MHz LTR systems will be popping up more since Motorola is making quite a few 700 MHz radios now....
