HELP!!!! Syntor X9000

Post by KG4OUJ »

Guys,

PLEASE help! I am in the process of installing a Syntor X9000 high band VHF in one of our Fire Chief's cars. I understand and have everything in place EXCEPT for the orange and green wires that come off of the control wiring at the control head. I seem to have misplaced the sheet that had the wiring on it and I don't remember what these wires are for or where to install them! Could somebody please let me know what to do here????

It seems that one goes to constant power and one goes to switched power but I'm not sure and don't remember which does what and which goes where!

I would appreciate any help that you could give. I'm going to try and finish the installation tomorrow and then move on to my Chief's car and then to a few trucks. We were lucky enough to get several of these radios donated to the department and I am the "lucky" person that gets to install them!

Please contact me at mojoedd@bellsouth.net if you can help.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

What radios do you own?: Mocom 70 w/scan!!

The green wire goes to the battery, and the orange wire goes to ignition. With it hooked up like this, the unit will RX, but not TX unless the ignition is on. If you want to have TX/RX with the rig off, hook both OR/GRN to the battery. If you want the radio to power up an down with the ignition, hook both OR/GRN to the ignition. If you do it this way use a noise filter in line.

It's orange to ignition and green to battery + unless you want to transmit with the iginition off then both to battery +. And both to iginition if you don't want anything to happen when the ignition is off.

If you do want them to "inhibit TX" with the ignition off, make sure they are programmed correctly. If I am not badly mistaken, these radios can be programmed so that you could actually leave the orange wire disconnected and still have normal (TX all the time) operation.
