MT1000 programming

Can someone confirm that, while in RSS programming, whether the Squelch sensitivity setting for the Genesis MT 1000 can be adjusted. I was told by one person "no", and by another that there are 15 possible settings for sensitivity levels in the RSS program, and by yet another there were 10!

If this is the case, which is most sensitive, 1 , 10 or 15? I would like to ensure maximum sensitivity on my MT1000.

The lower the number on the RSS
the lower the uvolt reading.
You should only do this with
a service monitor for the best
input.

The lower the number the more sensitive the squelch.

I don't have an MT1000 handy to hook up and try it, the RSS asks for communication with the radio to get into the service menu, so i can't tell you the actual number.

Try playing around with it though. I know on my HT600's they would sometimes miss weaker signals, and would picket fence a lot, so i lower the squelch in each of them by one and now they work flawless.

Its basically like turning a squelch pot up or down, its just being down by the RSS and the radios firmware at a set level.

Be sure to find a clear channel to set it with otherwise the RF noise leaking from your PC will open squelch much too easily.

Good point! Hardly any HT stays squelched in my computer room/shack. Though there is more than one PC running at a time in there most days.
