CP200 "How Much Does Programming Software Cost"

Post by Daniel Watson »

I have four (4) CP200 portables. Two (2) of them are Version 01.00.00 and two (2) of them are version 02.00.02. I want to buy the software that works for both. Does anyone know approxiately how much the correct software would cost from Motorola. And will one (1) version work for both?

Any coments would be appreciated.

RVN4191E is the p/n. 2.04 is the latest release. It will be backwards compatible with your two older 1.0 codeplugs. Call 800-422-4210, follow the prompts to software, they will get you current pricing and paperwork you need to purchase. Probably around $275. It's a software subscription, that will keep you current for 3 years.

Well thank you for the information. One lesson here, Before you buy one of these newer radios check what version it is.

Hopefully what you desire is a RSS product and not CPS which has become difficult at best to obtain.

RSS vs CPS

Post by Cowthief »

Hello.

Yes, CPS is getting hard to get.
RSS is still something you can get your hands on without any major trouble.
This makes no sense whatsoever, RSS can do what CPS can do, and more.

Why is the CPS getting so hard to get a hold of? Is Moto starting to limit sales on it or something?

I don't have any radios that use it, so i'm just curious as to whats going on with it before i happen to buy a newer radio.

Just some FYI info on this series of software. There is a revision out that is currently only available at MOL. If you want a hard copy of it, you have to call software support and tell them your computer is not internet capable and they will burn you a hard copy on disk. If you want it priority, let them know it is for a public service customer (FD, PD, EMS) and it will come overnight.

The delay in the hard copy update (since OCTOBER!!) is a vauge area if you ask the people at Motorola. I personally don't see why it is so difficult to get these disks out if they have a good working copy already. My guess is that they are probably waiting for the next revision to come out so they don't have to spend the extra money on the disks and mailings for this revision.

Lastly, this is a fairly easy software (even though it is a CPS) to get licensed for. It is the standard license and not the special one as required for the Waris series and the CT series.

Thanks for all the help. Motorola faxed the license agreement the next day after I telephoned. Just had to complete 2 forms and now mailed in and say it will take 5-7 days to process. We will see

Finally got the software from Motorola and Yes, the new version 2.04 does program both radio versions. Motorola people very very nice and I even got an online account out of all the paperwork. The cost was $199.

The latest version is actually 5.00....the previous version 4.00 had been out for several months. I can verify that radios programmed with those two later versions are certainly NOT compatible with earlier CPS versions such as 2.04...nor can you clone an older archive into them to 'force' them to revert to an older version.

The gentlemen is correct. The latest version is R05.00. I just looked on my account page and Motorola had a link to download. The download just simply updated the R02.04 version I just purchased.
