Converting high power Spectra from A7 to A4 head?

Post by k3td »

What needs to be changed (other than the control head)? I prefer knobs to push buttons while mobile.

The change has to be made in the RSS, change the control head type to Rotary
You can only buy so many bags of lime before people begin asking questions...

Thanks - once I make the change in RSS will the A4 plug in when the A7 is now, or do I need to change any hardware?

Yep you'll be good to go. Those heads are completely interchangeable. Just unscrew your A7 and screw in your A4. Done.

My A4 Rotory head would not work on any of my dash mount radios. You have to use a updated interface board. I think the info is on Mike Blenderman's site.

Symtoms: Keyed on TX when turned on
Digital noise in speaker.

The A4 works on my remote mount with the old style cable.

YMMV.
