I have 2 different type of Maxtrac radios that are type 2 trunking. 1 is a maxtrac 888 F6 model with a HLN3989D V71.23 chip on a HLN9313B logic board and the other is a C5 model and I will have to post what chip it has but it does have a HLN9313B logic board in it also. The Maxtrac 888 model does not have scan features enabled. What I would like to do is the following and I need some expert opinions and help out there.
1. Enable the scan features on the Maxtrac 888 model radio
2. See if it is possible to change the Maxtrac 888 F6 into the C5 or C6 Model.
3. Enable quick call decoding (signalling) on both radios.
Maxtrac type 2 radio reprogramming

Idea: How about this. If enabling signaling (Quick Call II, MDC) on the Smartnet C6 model Maxtrac radio isnt possible, then how about disabling the audio from the smartnet radio, and piping it through the logic board of my Radius UHF that has full signalling options so that way when a QCII tones come through the smartnet radio, it goes through the UHF radius radio and sets off the alarm and enables the audio on the internal speaker of the UHF. Think that's possible? I dont want the UHF to rebroadcast the signal at all.
The 800 Maxtracs aren't capable of signalling options at all.
As for what you want to do with the audio, you would have to inject the 800 demod_audio_out into the UHF at the demod_audio_in pin of the receiver circuit. Where that is I do not know. You would have to use shielded cable and probably add some other components. Technically, you can achieve what you want.
I can't figure out what equipment on 800 is using QC2 tones to open up receivers unless it's simulcast from a VHF/UHF system that's alerting pagers. It's cheaper now days to hand out Visar's and program an all_talk_group.
