Batboard

I have been reading about a mod for the ic-706 radios. It involves opening the touch tone mic and removing the blue wire---cover the ends---and attaching the black wire when the blue wire was connecting. I am very fond of the moto mics and would be interested in this mod if it would work and not terrorize the icom. The mic involved is the VMN-1017a. It supposidly has the proper connector already. Comments, thoughts, etc??
