I need to program my Maxtrac VHF for frequencies slightly below 146 Mhz, but the RSS won't let me use the shift command. How can I do this?

Well, you can get a copy of Maxtrac Lab, or visit here:

And if you feel brave learn about hex editing. You can change the band limits that the software will allow.
Good luck.

The newer RSS will allow you to the shift command to program the radio. i HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE with little sucsess. When I did it the radio would not key on the out of band channel. I never did follow through with why but I can only assume it was becuase I did not realign the radio.

I'm not sure what the newest RSS version is, but we use 7.02.00, and it allows the shift method. I have gone +/- 4MHz out of band with no trouble or tuning, on many Maxtracs & GM300's. The radios still check out perfectly on my analyzer. I have heard of other people going even further, using hex edit, with tuning sometimes required.
