I have a system saber 11 with a broken led. it transmits on 446.727
i have tryed to reprogram it using ver Ro 4.00, ver 6.0,ver 7.01 and it comes up with an error serial bus i/o error. i can put a diff saber on it and it reads fine. can anyone help figure this out.

Are you using the systems saber RSS or the regaler saber RSS? Becaues the systems saber's use there own RSS.

It says system saber model h44tuk5170an, i have tried a new case and im using a 286 laptop in dos mode, ??

I noticed you posted 4463727...that's an odd split the radio can't do, but it will do 6.25/12.5 and the rest.

Check your frequency info, you may have gotten the RSS to take improper/illegal values and programmed them in.

The radio can't use odd frequencies like that, but I think you just had a typo.

What options are you trying to programinto the radio?
The 'AN' version you have is anold one that doesn't have later revision support of features found on newer RSS versions, try deleting what you do not 'need' and reprogram.

What speed is your computer?
Are you running it in true DOS mode or shell?
Systems Sabers are FINICKY beasts, check the DB9 to DB25 connector, pin 22 on the DB25, and pin 5 on the DB9, you should have continuity, if not, swap cables, you'll get a 'can't acquire busy line' error on the screen if the cable is the cause of the problem.

You also stated this was a Systems Saber II, they have limited channels and limited display, you should check the [F4] options that are available for your model, some featues are NOT usable with options selected, like MDC and SCAN, they usually give you an eror, but you can disregard it and select using it anyhow, but you can have falsing on MDC doing so.

Also, make certain you seleccted the proper band split, selecting the wrong one will cause your radio to brick, but simply reprogramming it with the correct split will undo the problem.

BIG item here...CHECK THE BATTERIES on the RIB and radio, the RIB battery MUST be as close to 9V as possible, if not, replace it.
Same goes for the radio's battery, if it's nearly dead, charge it and the reprogram, the radio's CORE and COPE do NOT work or program witha depleted battery.

Without seeing the radio, it's difficult to know the exact thing you are talking about, but there are stating points to begin from.

Try using an earlier version, maybe R04.00.02, or even earlier, such as B03.00.02.
