I wonder what will be THE most sensitive radio Motorola has ever build!
I know my MX3000 is more sensitive then my MT2100 and MTS2000, both the MTS and the MT ar tweaked to the max but the MX3000 beat them almost anytime....

Greetings,
GJ

Nope ! Gotta be a lo band mitrek I have one on 6 meters ham
(52.xxx mhz) measures .07 Uv for 12Db sinad. Could not believe it
so tried on several different svc monitors and got .07-.08 every time.
I honestly believe it can really hear a gnat fart at 3.7 miles. Phrawg

I once had a Maxar 80 that used to cry when I brought it near other radio's.

It was really sensitive.

I second the lowband Mitrek...I hoard every one of them I can get my greedy little hands on (:

If you stick a coat hanger in the SO239 connector, you car pick up an cricket farting in Hawaii.

I have noticed my UHF P200 seems to receive better than my HT1000's, both radios check the same on the service monitor and the Boonton gen. A UHF M100 receiver is good without the antenna switch in the PA.
AND I will second the Mitrek LB.

My vote for the most sensitive.....GP300

I cursed and screamed at mine one day ina fit of rage and it locked up and never worked again......the radio took a trip to get repaired(replaced) and I went for sensitivity training.

i have gp300,s and a gp900-99
by far the gp 300,s seem to be far better than the 900
if only they came up with a 300 that had 900 functions
ie the following:-
wide band "designed" 303-370
more than 16 channels (hacked or unhacked)
ability for "public safety mic"
squelch overide
repeater talkround
alpha tags are handy

for close in work i would always use th gp900-99
but in marginal areas gp300 comes into its own!

for portables it's a tie for me between my vhf mt1000 and my gp300

the mt is just hair better though

gp's surprise the hell out of me though.

My two bits worth:
As far as effective sensitivity is concerned my choice is the 800 meg MSF5000. (-120Dbm 12DB SINAD)

It seems to me that the GE 4ER6 tube type "twin coffin" was speced at .2uv.

What use is a receiver with -125 Dbm bench sensativity when the site noise is -110Dbm?

my VHF Saber analog can hear things my Kenwood mobile with 3db gain antenna can't. It also runs circles around my Jedi's and VHF Visar.

my ht1250, wait was this for the best sensitiby or worst? If it's worst, ht1250!

For mobiles, its anything 20+ years old.

The x9000 that I have/had outperform anything else I have owned. Went from x9000 to spectra, lost some radio with that, and spectra to astro spectra and seemed like I lost more.

At one point I got rid of a lowband x9000 for an ORion, and went back to the x9000. Just can't say enough good things about it.

I have noticed somewhat the same with portables too. Newer they are, less they seem to be.

My VHF A4 Spectra has great recieve. It is using a 1/4 wave antenna on the trunk and hears stations 2 or 3 counties away.I am so impressed with it I just got a UHF A9 from the same guy so I hope it performs just as well.

I have a 900 spectra that's kinda sensative, if I don't talk nicely to it-it cries

I have to agree with PJ here. My 9000 is the shiznak when it comes to sensitivity! If I even think of looking at another radio, tears start to well up in it's display.

i have a MT500 that was factory crystalled, stickered and tuned for 154.600 its date code is something like 1982 and it's sensitivity on that freq blows away my HT600 GP300 p100, GE MPA and it even seems to hear a bit better than my VHF AS3 *sniff* wish the AS3 had its sensitivity. but love it anyway. i dont know what the mV of the reciever is, but it will definately hear stuff well that the other radios cant, or barely.

I was glad somebody mentioned the MT500, one of the finest public safety radios ever made. Of note were the three 17.9 MHz receiver filters, this receiver was exceptionally clear and sensitive. A similar receiver was used in the Pageboy II series, which also happens to be one the most sensitive voice pagers I've ever seen.

For the portables, I also have to go with the older units... the MT500 and the MX series. I had one or two MXs that absolutley where incredible on rx.
Mobiles, the Syntor and the MCX1000 also when properly tuned did quite well.

my vote is for the X9000 decks....we have three that routinely pick up the CMED channels from out of state (we're in hartford, ct area) with the monitor open...

I wonder what will be THE most sensitive radio Motorola has ever build!
Since you made no specifications as to radio type, I would have to say the radio that Motorola built for the Voyager space probe. That was still recieving command functions when it went past the planet Pluto! :D

Yeah, they don't have to worry too much about intermod out there :D
