p110 channel expansion > 8 to 16

Post by Vercomm »

I have a VHF 8ch P110 146-174MHz. Model p43qlc20d2 I want to expand this radio to 16channels. I have modified the bit at the end of the serial number all 255 times. I have been able to change to model number 15 times between UHF and VHF, but cannot get more than 8 channles. Any tips or hints.

Using P110 Version R08.00.04 19-Mar-96

Thanks,

Jamie

I've never tried the "alternate method" on Batlabs of expanding the channels you just described...it just seemed too vague. You should use the "alternate method 2" detailed on Batlabs & modify the MDF file to think your 8-channel model is actually 16-channels. It's far easier.

Are you using a "Hex-Edit"?If so change everything back to original. You need to edit the MDF file.

P110

"Victory is mine!" Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys. I'm a little pissed that I spent last night editing all 255 bytes, but it was a good refresher on my hex counting. The P110 may have won the battle last night, but I won the WAR!!

Thanks again guys!!

Most of the pre-'94 series P110/GP300 radios could be 'converted' very easily from their base channels to 16 by simply snipping the stop under the channel selector and programming it as a 16 channel radio.

The P110/GP300 is the same radio, but in different housings, you'll even notice every P110 has the same THREE buttons but the P110 case does not allow use of that 'missing' button, but it's there regardless.

After 1994, Circle-M started changing the micro in that core radio product that ended the use of toolkit and other editing software, if you bought an 8 channel radio, you ONLY get 8 channels, those radios will step 1-8 then start again at 1-8, or they will just repeat the last channel all the way to 16.

Lower channel versions like the 2 channel models will go 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2 and so on.....No more 'tricking' with the rss or reprogramming will change it.
