Not sure which forum this should be in because I want to know about installing a radio in my SUV, but I also threw in pictures of it without a radio installed (well my MTS2000 is in the cupholder if that counts)...

Are there any remote mount 800mHz radios that will work on a TypeII Motorola system that I can mount anywhere that you see? I noticed a common place is to the left of the gear shifter with the CDM models. Oh, I don't have a whole lot of money to spend either...

I just though too, a remote mount scanner would work too, I really don't do a whole lot of talking and if I do, that's what I could use the portable for since if I'm talking, I'd be in my area. I basically wanted something that would pick up so I can hear, even if I'm not right in my area.

Sho-me red MicroLites in Grille Recently replaced by 4 LX4's R/R
100 watt speaker
Federal Signal Smart Siren

Other:

XM Satellite Radio (Power tied into ignition)
Master Battery Switch (Powers smart siren and lights)

Smart Siren installed in place of overhead sunglasses holder



Master Battery Switch installed under left side, rear passenger seat

Very nice. Clean and simple.

If you don't need it, I'd be removing the rear cross-bar from the roof rack. It's doing nothing but blocking your Edge.

Agreed.

Also, reaching up to hit the airhorn in traffic may become a pain. For the mounting location, I highly suggest horn ring or foot switch

It is tied into the horn...I guess I forgot to mention that...

I was using it this past month but I will be removing the 2 luggage rack horizontal bars as soon as I can.

The console where the voice recorder and homelink system are is so tight against the roof that I can't fit even that small of a wire in there to hide it. I looked real quick one day to see if there were screws somewhere but haven't found any yet, so I'm not exactly sure how it's held on there...

Any help would be great!

Pull down, it is just snapped in with metal clips.

Well I've taken the roof racks off, tucked the smartsiren wire into the overhead console, and replaced my 2 Sho-Me grille LEDs with 4 LX4's which I am quite impressed with. I'll post pics and a video soon.

Next project: Replace Lightbar with either full size LED bar, or mini LED bar. Then, add 2 HAWs to the front corner lights or front fog lights. (Haven't decided which yet, any ideas?)
