Only Motorola portables capable of MODAT are as follows:
1. Properly flashed ASTRO Saber
2. Properly flashed XTS 3000
3. Motorola MX series portable with MODAT board
4. MT 500 with MODAT back casing
Possibly a few others... But those are all that come to mind.

Vertex, Kenwood, Tait, Icom, Maxon, and Uniden have a few radios that do it with a board from Midian. Noteably the vx-800, vx-920, vx-420 etc
You can buy the board and the radio and spend much less than you would for big M stuff.
I know this is a Motorola board but if you really want that sound there are other options.

I'd probably double check that. Midian and several other sell boards that do MDC 600 / 1200, but I've never seen MODAT option board.silverbk wrote: Vertex, Kenwood, Tait, Icom, Maxon, and Uniden have a few radios that do it with a board from Midian. Noteably the vx-800, vx-920, vx-420 etc

- What radios do you own?: Centracom Gold Elite, XTS5K 4K
Can you Flash a regular saber?
I dont think so!!
They are not FLASHport radios and do not have flashcodes , and MODAT is in the flashcode.

You can do MODAT if you flash your radio into a European GP300 series radio, since these are Select-5 capable (you have to set custom toneset)
but you will lose MDC1200 (do you need it?) and I think that American versions have smaller flash memory chip.

The question I have is WHY?
Who uses MODAT other than people who want to make CB sound effects on the ham band and make repeaters sound like truck drivers with "tricked out" illegal CB's?
It is really childish. why not spend money on something useful like P25 CAI or D-Star...
