HT1250 Limited Front Keypad Buttons

I have an HT-1250 that is programmed so that P1 or P3 brings up the list of zones, and I can scroll up and down through the list to select a different one (Same as Menu > Zone). (P2 does the light on and off). If I read the radio with the CPS, the assignment for P1 Short Press, P3 Short Press, P2 both Long and Short Press shows up blank (P1 and P3 Long are unassigned). Then if try to re-write to the radio, I lose the functionality of the buttons. Last time I sent it back to the depot and they fixed it. How do I keep this button's function?

I am using Professional Radio CPS R06.01.00. Firmware is R05.09.02. Model Number is H25KDF9AA5.

that firmware is pretty new, it should be working. but i've ran into it before and the only way i got it to work is clone a different codeplug into your radio that has those options working. it's just some sort of random motorola gremlin.

I thought it was random too, until all eighty radios came back from the shop like that. :o

Had a radio where i set the button then as soon as the screen closes. It resets to unassigned. Even upgrading the firmware didnt help.

What worked was to take a radio where i could program the button and clone to the bad radio.

All is well

Ok, so I guess I need a codeplug (The one in the radio is version 1.02 I think, if this gives anyone any other ideas). Anyone know where I can find a good one for this model? It's a VHF-High limited front keypad.

EDIT: I downloaded the HT1250 VHF Full Keypad codeplug from CPSS, and that didn't have the option for changing zones on the front keypad either. P3 showed up blank for short key press (as opposed to "unassigned" or an actual function.) Does anyone have a newer version of the CPS that allows for programming that function perhaps?

the reason all 80 of your radios came back that way is they just cloned all of the radios off of the first one they did, so they all match. i havn't figured that one out yet either, it's just a random glitch. i have a brand new 1550 with last weeks newest firmware in it and my monitor button don't work right since the firmware update. hey check this, did they update the firmware in all 80 of those radios?

Firmware upgrade? Doubtful.

There are certain combinations that are not compatible for the same button. Try programming a dedicated button just for the zone button and nothing else on long press. I had the same problem before and this is how I got around it. Don't know why it matters what is programmed for short/long press on the same button but it does.

Had the same problem.

CPS 6.06.00 has the "Zone" selection, older RSS did not.

as far as cps, you are looking in the wrong area...

take a radio [1] and basically erase it...
take out all personalities, scan, mdc, etc. etc...

be sure to do it right as you will be there hours if not..

essentially, you must reverse program...ie. delete channel assignment list and other data you would put into the radio after entering in each personality..

this is a greuling task, but, if done right most likely work...

when done to where you only have 1 simplex channel and all buttons assigned as blank, write it back..

then here comes the other half, put all the info back in starting from scratch...

should this do what you need, clone the good version in...

i had that problem with a 1250ls+ full keypad...

once blanked, it worked fine...

however, i tried to clone other plugs in and it didnt work...
thus my mission impossible...

good luck and only do this after saving the original plug..

a little tip
save your work as you progress only after checking if there are errors as it will save you major headaches.....

Well that answers that part of the question; I have CPS R6.01.00. Of course, no free upgrade from /\/\, I'm sure. :x
