Check the battery contacts

Maybe a battery - are you using a factory batt?

Has the radio been reprogrammed lately? I've seen corrupt codeplugs cause this behavior.

100% positive that its not the battery or battery contacts.... it has to be with the codeplug....

we took the codeplug from a radio simular, deleted all the personalities and zones, and started from scrath.

i think that has something todo with it...

do you have a copy of the codeplug that was in it before you dumped this one in?

I think it know whats wrong.... I bet there was some smartzone being programmed in.. and somewhere in there was programmed wrong and it just keeps resetting.. I had that happen once.

I had the same problem with a UHF XTS 3K that had 6 freq's in it. It was a NICK radio so I sent it back to him. He couldn't figure it out so he sent me a new radio. He even cloned it from the bad radio. 3 years later, still fine. My radio had no trunking systems. Just 6 or 7 ham freqs. It only happened while changing freqs with scan on. Good luck. GARY

robert you may be right because joel was trying to get the pomona system to work.... (its his clodeplug) that we just removed all of his stuff and started from scratch, so i thought but all the options in diff. parts of the radio, are still on, so i just need a small clean codeplug to put my freqs into...

Sounds like the RF deck has gone bad. Replace it.

VCO might be failing.

New? More money than you want to know.

Used? I saw a couple on ebay from a batboards user a week or two ago for a very reasonable price ($150-200 IIRC).

ok another thing that i noticed wrong is during power up (self test) the green LED light does not remain on during the test, it just flashes and turnes off...

hope this helps....

That should put the radio into FAIL 001, not cause a reset.

Read your plug and nuke everything. Every personality, every scan list, every signalling system, etc. Rebuild from scratch. That's always done it for me.

If it's worse than that, you can blast an s-record into it (save the alignment values and reenter them afterward) and likely fix the problem.

I agree, try a different s-rec and force that in and just see what happens. Save your current s-rec and tuning values as well just in case. See what happens.

Yeah thats an Astro phenomenon... I know of a 3000 that if you have the radio codeplug filled right up it only flashes for a split second but if it has about 4+ channels spare it holds the light on for a few seconds during bootup and test.
