Does anyone use velcro to mount equipment in a vehicle? I've tried mounting my scanner and Sirius receiver but the velcro keeps melting off or just doesn't hold. Anyone have a good brand or type they recommend?

I have my GM300 on a mount that I can easily remove, but lost the bracket for my scanner. I want to mount them on top of each other, with the option to take it off if needed.

NO NO NO NO... Your asking for trouble in an accident. The velcro will not stand up to an accident and your equipment will go flying off, Most likley right at your head!!!!

Even a small scanner mounted on the side of the console beneath the dash on the passenger side? I have a Bearcat BC350A.... and a Sirius Replay receiver... both are really small, less than 1 lb combined. I'll take a picture later today and post it and see if what I want to do is really a bad idea.

I know better than to mount a full size 40 watt mobile with velcro, that's screwed down.

My local police use 3M tape to hold there radar down, seems to hold up pretty good.

In my Outback I have an IC208H control head mounted on
the inside of the windshield at the lower left (as you look out
to the front) using one of those suction cup thingies. Same
gadget is used on one of the side fixed windows for the

The suction cups stay on for a couple of months and then
have to be "re-set" which involves some spit and about ten
seconds of work. You need a hard surface that's not porous
to make this system work. The manufacturer also makes
stick-on cups/brackets, etc.

If it doesnt have 3M adhesive its not real velcro

I got a suggestion to use a product from 3M, called Duralock, same stuff that holds my EZ Pass on the windshield, could that work for something a little heavier?

Try the dura lock, thats what our department uses to mount our radar units.

I used the dura lock to mount my bearcat bc350a in my pov. It's mounted between the pasengers seat and the console.

Just make sure you clean the surface with an alcohol pad before applying the dura lock.
