I have a CXB main board that has a problem caused by a loose wire scraping across the board. The board locks into transmit and does some other odd things...

Can anyone take on the job...

I really messed up on this one.

I was hooking up a controller and everything was working perfect until the mishap.

I had another board to replace it but had to take it from a working station.

Does it give you any error codes, or immediately go into transmit? Does it do anything else "normal"?

The CPU and both ASICs are in sockets. The ASICs can be swapped. These same parts are in TTRCs and I believe they're all interchangeable.

I think these parts are still available from Motorola, but I'd want to be sure one is bad before deciding to buy one.

I can't remember if there was error codes or not but I do remember it showing that there was a open squelch and carrier present when there was none...on the real time diagnostics screen and the squelch soft pots in service would not adjust at all.. and just flashed the values and then went to the original value. The VCO's both locked OK.

I'm going to be gone for 3 weeks so it will be a while to get back to this project.

OK. The carrier present indication could be causing the station to key up, if it's configured as a repeater.

The EEPots all share several signal lines except for the one that addresses a particular part. So if a common line got zapped, they might all be dead. Either the pots themselves got fried, or the signal driving them did, and I think that's one or both of the ASICs.

We'll continue this when you get back.
