MDC-1200 ID Decode Question

Post by dbfd588 »

What is a cheap easy way to decode MDC-1200 ID's. I'm wanting be be able to see the ID's of other radios without buying an expencive radio like an HT-1250.

I use this software at home, on my computer, I have a Kenwood TK880 mobile unit with a computer mic in front of the speaker and it works fine. It will decode MDC1200 ID's. If you are looking for something portable, I would think you will need an HT1250/1550 or MT2000 with MDC1200 or MTS2000 flashed for MDC1200. High end portables will also decode, like Astro Saber, XTS5000 etc. Follow the link and click on WINMDCD

So how exactly does that work. Does the sortware read the incoming audio and decode it. How does the radio hook up to the computer? Thanks

It is easy.

All you need todo is either run a stero or mono cable from scanner to mic or input on sound card and use your PC's speakers to monitor your scanner and it will decode them from the audio or do like he said above about putting the PC mic infront or on top of the scanner speaker and adjust volume accordingly and it will work. Just play with it.
