Bizarre Saber scan problem

Post by Dorpmuller »

Hi guys,

I have a standard Saber III VHF that is 100% fine except: when the radio is in scan, it will receive normally, scan works normally, but the display will continue to read "scanning" even when the radio is stopped on a channel. (in scan mode and receiving)

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rich

Yeah, I think mine does it too. Normal. I will have to
look at it when I get home. I usually just listen to it
and dont watch the display.

normal

I will have to second the opinion that problem is actually normal. When I still had them I believe all of my saber's did this.

What radios do you own?: Progreso soup can with CRT

Saber scan display...

That's the way they work. It's nuts but it's the
way they are. Astro Sabers, by comparison, tell
you WHERE they've stopped to scan, which is
pretty nice.

It may depend on the radio and the CORE. I have a 5D VHF that dose the same thing unless its a priority . Then I have a 6D UHF that displays the name no matter what its on.

It may have something to do whith how long the talkback scan is set for in the RSS

I'm gonna try making a new codeplug and starting over... every Saber I ever had always stopped and displayed the channel in scan.

None of mine do that. I've never seen it happen and these are old sabers.

My saber operates different than everyone elses.

I have a VHF secure III with 5 D core that usually shows the stopped channel but sometimes and this is only about 2 or 3 % of the time, when I start scan it shows scanning when stopped on a channel.

If I stop and then restart scan then it reverts back to showing the correct channel alphanumeric tag that it stops on.

This only occurs in mode scan, programmable scan always shows the correct stopped channel during scan.
