VHF CDM1250 and Two-Tone Decoder

Post by scvfd1204 »

Hello all.

I am getting ready to install a Midians RT2 in a small project box and connect it to my CDM1250 to activate a relay etc when we get a proper two-tone decode.

I know I use pin 11 on the CDM to get the flat rx audio as an input to the RT2.

My question in the COR/COS input for the two tone decoder. It says in the instructions

"Connect to a point in teh squelch or CTCSS circuit that changes logic level when carrier is received.."

Does this mean I can program pin 8 on the CDM for PL and CSQ detect and set the active level for high and then set the tone decoder up to look for a high level voltage to see that the radio is receiving a valid signal?

I have look on the fora here and cannot find an answer that is clear to me. I guess I'm not looking in te right places....

Thanks!

Thanks for the response.

Thats what I thought. I had tried using the radio alone to control the relays for bells and buzzers, but it would never act right.

At least with the tone decoder controlling the circuit, I would think it work work much better.

The BatBoards does it again.....

THANKS!!!!

Just an update...

I have finally finished the claxon system project.

After building a small box to house the RT2 from midians a small circuit board for connections, a power switch and a few LEDs, along with a relay connected to the output of the RT2.

I have 2 120vac federal signal vibratone fire alarm bells (in the hallways) and a federal signal mechanical buzzer out in the engine bay. When the B tone hits the RT2 engages and rings the bells/buzzers for approximately 3 seconds.

I'm amazed that it all work like I wanted it to the first time around without any major reconfigurations. I successfully programmed the RT2 with the keypad that I ordered from Midians. Now if I could just get the thing to reprogram, I want to adjust the timing on the bells for around 2 seconds or 2 1/2 seconds. It works good now, so I may just leave it as is.

I have 3 short video clips on photobucket if anyone is interested in seeing them....

Thanks again to the wonderful people here on the BatBoards.....
