Hi guys,

I've recently picked up a bunch of sabers, though the volume knobs are cracked and on their way out.. does anyone know of a cheap source for replacement knobs? doesnt have to be genuine moto.. just be a reasonable fit..

I've never known of a source for these other than Motorola,
owing mostly I suppose to their unique method of mounting.

Last I heard a pair of low-profile knobs with various colored
plastic inserts were about five bucks. That gets you one
black-line knob and one with the white line, so for about
ten bucks plus freight you get to re-knob (is that a word?)
two radios.

OTOH, if you were to get hold of a setscrew knob with a
very small shaft opening it might work on the Sabers, but
it would undoubtedly look pretty strange.

There is a series of universal knobs made that use a collet type
of attachment that are showing up in electronics parts stores.
you pop a small colored cap out of it and there is a screw slot
use to tighten it and it grips the shaft like a dremmel tool chuck.
you can get them on all sorts of color fill caps and sizes.
I have found them to work on sabers, genesis series, and
several other brands of radio. I dont have a brand name on
them as our local parts emporium here in houston just has
bins full of them in bulk. Phrawg

Would that be EPO, and if so, the store on Fondren or the store in Clear Lake off Highway 3? I need to head over there for some SLAs anyway.
