P/N or just plain old need a SVA Power connector

I see the pin outs for the Saber Vehicle Adaptor but don't know which end the start from. I also thought that the SAV had the same connector as the Genesis series MVA (which it doesn't). Does anyone have an old power connector they want to part with (understanding I've got about $20 bucks in the whole set up) or is this part commonly available? (Like radio-shaft standard connector) Thanks!

Yes. Find an old computer. The 4 pin connector that plugs into old large
disk drives is the same. of course you need to move the wires around if you
are picky about colors, or just splice longer wires of the right color in and go.
the pins are standard Molex pieces. Hope this helps. Phrawg

Is the postive on the left or right looking at the back of the SVA?

The Molex plug housing is numbered.

1 - Ground
2 - Illumination Sense (12v+ to power backlights, may or may not be needed)
3 - Ignition Sense (12v+)
4 - B+

If you're a purist, the part # for the actual cable is 3005160U01 and it shows $35.50 list. It was showing "deletion upon depletion of current stock" when I ordered one in April, but not anymore for some reason.

Perfect....dug out an old computer, and made me up a cable. Now I have a question:

Lights. I figured out the charge light and the bottom led is the busy light. What are the ones above it? Two are on all the time and two are out...

Also what changes the volume. I can't seem to change it with the arrow on the front pannel.

Thanks!

That is the volume control you were toying with, and if it does not function, check the Accy. connections on the SVA as well as the radio...there may be some oxide buildup on either which can prevent operation of panel controls.

IF that control starts to operate, you should also see the corresponding LEDs light up accordingf to level, that's a good indication it's now working properly.

If you have the display mic, you are all set if you have a Saber III, then you can control the radio via the mic instead of pulling it to change zones and so on as they are now all controlled by the mic itself.

Make sure the radio is off when inserted in the SVA.
