hello everyone,
i have a problem hopefully you all can help.
i have 2 gp300's set up for mdc-1200 but when i set them up for mdc on the rx side i cant hear that squelch sound when i key up the other it just bleeps..............if i take off the mdc on the rx side it's fine.....why is that?

any ideas

sounds like DOS muting. try to disable that on the other radio and see if the problem goes away

whats dos muting?.........is that in the signalling set up?

i found the dos ....no muting option just a time selection .....either way that wasnt it.
gotta be something simple i just cant figure out

Did you turn the DOS auto mute time on the receive radio all the way down until it says 'disabled'? DOS is Data Operated Squelch, it mutes the radio when it detects MDC signalling since normally you wouldn't want to hear the MDC burst.

You can either turn the DOS, time to 0 or turn RX signalling to none if you can. the best way is to turn DOS HOLD OFF to 0.0
This will allow the complete Data Burst to heard over the air.

You're better off leaving it. Believe me, the MDC1200 noise is a cool novelty for about the first week. After that, it simply becomes loud and annoying. DOS muting is a wonderful thing it should always be left on!

I agree, cool at first now annoying as hell.

similar to MODAT on a CMED channel.
