Hi!

I do not have original power supply for Quantro and I want to confirm if this is the right spot to connect +12V ?

I can confirm that the cable that plugs into that connector does come from the power supply but I do not know the pin out info on that connector.

I was able to measure these for you today.

The pins are represented below as a "0"

0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
+5 +5 +0 +0 +15 +15

The Quantro/Quantar supplies usually produce about +15VDC but not sure if its regulated or not.
I represented zero volts as "+0" to differentiate it from the pins.

EDIT: OK - for some strange reason the pin zero's in the posting does not line up with the way I edit it
so just count from right to left and the last two pins on the left are not connected.

Hi Beno,

I cannot confirm that the two center pins are at ground potentail.
The station is on the air and I did not want to do anything that may cause a
problem like checking for continuity. The other pins you marked in the pic do
appear to be what I measured with a DVM.

HI!

Well I connected +12V and GND like on my picture and it powers up and goes through self test . I did not connect +5V .
Now the problem is I can´t read RPT. When I perform comm test I get " Connected device error; No response from device".
I use IBM 486 – 25 MHz laptop and serial cable ( this setup programmed GM300,GM350,GM900,M110,Visar,P210,MT2100,MCS2000... with success ).
Any idea ?

Not sure - only thing left to try is hooking up the +5vdc pins and see if that changes anything for you.
That config is working for my station - but your mileage may vary.

Not wrong, just different. The first has the flow control lines passed through and flipped (RTS/CTS and DSR/DTR, if memory serves). The second only has the TXD/RXD and sig ground.

Hi!
Sorry to bother but I need help again . Quantro is realy something new to me and kind of exotic equipement in my area
Where is six pin connector from PA connected ?
And which one is the RX antenna connector ?

Beno - the six pin pa conn is on the right side just above the white motorola label and I think its marked as "37" on the back.
As for the RX conn your Quantro does not appear to have one. There is usually a cable that comes out of the receiver and
loops out to a bulkhead conn attached to (on the left which is not present) the frame.

Hi!

The six pin connector on PA does not match the "37" on frame.

I pulled out receiver module and I ques that miniUHF connector is the right one !?

One more question. What does this mean and how does this efect the RPT ?

Beno,

1. You are missing an extension cable that extends the pa 6 pin cable connection and converts to conn 37 on the frame.

2. Yes - that miniUHF connector is the right one.

3. I do not know - I have never seen that RSS screen before.

As to the RSS screen, problems can occur if unused parts of the codeplug contain random data. I'm no computer geek but that was the way I understood it. By following the instructions for conditioning, it fills all these parts with "FF" and no more trouble. I had a couple Quantar stations that I ignored this screen and they would dummy up now and then. All lights looked normal but nothing in or out of the station. Power reset would clear it for a few months. After conditioning, no more problems over the past 3 years. I'd go ahead and do it and save yourself some trouble later.

Hi!

Problem with PA cable solved. I was lucky to get one
This is the picture of connector on the chasis side. Colours of the wires are the same on the PA connector but orange is not connected!

Excellent - did you locate one of them locally or have to make a purchase from mother moto?

If you went the moto route i hope it was not too much $

Now you should be good to go.

Hi!

The quantro was dismantled to parts on the original location and cable was on the way to garbage. Last minute rescue
The rpt will be used in HAM service. I did programm it to RX-431.XXX MHz and TX-439.XXX MHz. TX is out of band but
it seams that this is no problem at all. I did test it in analog mode but I do not have P25 radio to test digital mode.
I would like to connect external controler and link radio to quantro. Is there a way to get PTT,COR,TX/RX audio on quantro ?

Hi Beno - I beleive it can be done but I have no experience with external controlers on these base stations. I would do some searches on this web site and see if you can find out that info.
If that does not get you the info you need open up a thread on that specific subject in the thread subject line to give your info request better visibility to others that scan the threads.
Sorry I can not help you out on that & good luck....

The MRTI connector will work for most of the things you are looking for if you do not have a wireline card. The *better* way to go if you have the wireline card installed and working is the 25 pair AMP connector. It gives you just about anything you could want for connections.
