Mt1000 portable recieve problem ?

Hello :
I have a MT1000 lo band portable in the 36 to 42 mhz split.
It will tx fine from what i can tell.
But it will not recieve after it is on for say an hour or two and its programmed corectly.
When its first turned on it works fine till the following symptoms show up.
After its been on for awhile it starts flashing the green light when its toggle sw is in the left position with the speaker symbol marked out.
If in the middle position with the speaker symbol it does not flash anything but hear a scratchy crackle sound.
In the farthest right position with th Z symbol it does not flash but hear the crackle sound again.
The radio will tx but no recieve.
If you transmit it will flash the red light but keep flashing until unkeyed but does tx to another radio.
Anyone have an idea what it could be ?
Its got a new battery and i have tried other batterys working fine from other radios.
I also tried adjusting the sqeulch threshold but no go.
