Help on my first saber brick

Post by mdahmer »

I had an operational saberIII that i programed successfully many times. It was definitely SIII 120 ch 8k. I accidentally pulled a saber I 12 ch file and loaded the RPF. The Core and Cope(Int & Est ) now read with check sum errors (f2 to continue). When I load the saved rpf and 120 channel info RSS7.0 says its a 2k radio, build aborted. Am I dead here or is there a master reset? Cope Patch has changed from 05 t0 0C I do have the original (read from this exact radio) 60 of 120 zone 5/10 channel file saved to disk. I have two other SIII working with the same rpf. Display error is permanent
Error 0 81. HELP!!

Give this a try:
1- Unplug the front shield
2- In RSS, create a new Model 1 codeplug for the radio (correct band, secure, etc.) Do not change anything in the default codeplug.
3- Program the new Model 1 codeplug into the radio.
4- If the radio accepts the Model 1 codeplug, reconnect the front shield and attempt to re-load your original Model 3 archive.

Good luck.

Also you may want to check out the above thread which describes the procedure from the saber service manual.

This one has worked for me.

If you programmed an 8K radio with a 2K code plug it will stay a 2K until either the radio is corrupted as described in the batlabs saber section or the front shield is replaced. In either case the radio has to be completly realigned.

Quite a few of the surplus VHF Sabers my city aquired from the feds were 8k programmed as 2K. Corrupting the code plug worked every time to recover them.
