A friend of mine recently told me they were available, however, can't seem to find specs.

Anybody know anything?

Thanks

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

The APX series has not been released as of yet.

However, if your looking for a mobile, the current offering is the XTL5000 with the W3 control head. This is the only currently supported dual radio setup by Motorola. Figure the price of two mobile radios and add a couple of hundred dollars and you've got one. I think the general pricing works out to be $8,000.

Simialar setups:
Syntor X9000 in HHCH and Systems 9000 heads
Spectra in HHCH
ASTRO Spectra in HHCH
ASTRO Spectra in W7 or W9 *2nd radio is receive ONLY*
XTL5000 in W3 (requires option G473? which MUST be ordered at time of radio order, not flash upgradable according to Motorola).

A few posts from a few years ago from someone posting from a .gov address stated that they had ASTRO Spectras with W9's, but thats the last we heard from him. No details, nothing publically disclosed.

Also in the rumor mill, XTL5000's with upcoming firmware 13 will support dual radio with the O5 head, and possibly the O3 head, but nothing solid at this time.

Pj,

Thanks for the info.

I'm just sorta glad at least they are putting them both in the same chassis now...

I'm not expecting the price to be low with the new APX models, know what they will be going for?

I'll just be glad to see the department be able to scan both bands on the same radio.

Rumor mill has it at...well...its an APX7000, and $7k wouldn't be a strech..

Not being at APCO this year, my guess its geared more towards the command staff, rescue vehicles, incident command vehicles and the like, more than the rank and file PD/FD/EMS and equipment.

Though, you never know what people buy these days..
