XTS 2500 Firmware

I just bought a XTS 2500 800MHZ. My service uses the same flash code as the radio purchased. I referenced the radio I purchased with an XPS 1500 that has the same flash code, but the firmware is different. The radio that purchased has a host R 05.00.01 and DSP R 05.00.00. It is a 4M The XTS 1500 that we use has a host R 09.00.00 and DSP R 09.00.00. It is a 8M. I'm just wondering what will need to be done and possible costs to upgrade my firmware, or if it will work as purchased.

You never told us what type of a radio system this radio will be used on. If it is conventional, it probably
doesn't matter. If your trying to use this radio on a trunking system, then it's a whole different story.
As with all other posts on trying to use a personal radio on a trunking system, check with the system
administrator first. This way you stay out of problems.

In addition to staying out of trouble, he'll more than likely tell you what shop can do the upgrade, or might even do it in-house for you.

The simple answer is yes.
If your flashcode of the radio you purchased matches the radio you already have, the radio will conform to your system (barring any encryption stuff.) You will need to have it programmed to match whatever system type you are using. If you are trunked, as stated, see the sys admin.
You can get your radio upgraded to Version 9 Host/DSP as a 4meg radio, but nothing beyond that.
See your local shop / system admin for details on how to get a FW upgrade for your radio.

In addition, if your system will be rebanded you will need newer firmware at that time as host 5 does not support rebanding.

Does version 9 host/firmware support rebanding?

Is host 9 the earliest that supports it, if not what is the cutoff?
Thanks

Rebanding is supported starting at Host R07.00.00.
