Hi all - this is my first post from UK. I have carried out mod to GP_2 file as per batwings site and cloned 16 chan radio into a 2 chan unit (radio is about 3 years old). radio takes the data and is now 16 chan but only works on 2! channels switch 121212 etc.
will i have to change the cpu or can i blow new firmware into it

If you read teh entire page regarding the addition of channels to the GP300 radio, you'd see that some radios cannot be made 16 channel radios because of firmware- these models follow 1212121212 on the channel dial, while radios with 12222 can be changed to 16 channel radios. This changeover occured sometime in 1994. You probably have to buy a new microprocessor or something for it. You might just want to trade it in for an older GP300 from early 1994.

thanks for that Josh. i have a lot of contacts in the radio trade & i am told that it may be possible to mod the radio i have without changing the CPU. i will keep the board informed if i succeed. BTW i have qty 35 radios to mod so trading not really an option
