Delaying starting a program in XP

I need to delay a program that I would like to run via the startup menu on boot. It only needs to be delayed by 10sec to a minute to keep it from conflicting with another GPS serial splitter on boot.

Any easy way to do this?

Do it yourself:

oops, I think that's Win98 only...

Let some other freeware software do it:

I HIGHLY recommend Startup Delayer
http://www.r2.com.au/software.php?page= ... startdelay.
Very cool freeware, been using it for over a year now.

I'll give them a try, thanks.

Since we are on the subject, any way to delay the start of a service? I can run GPS Gate either way, and rather go the service route if I can.

Why not run a batch file on startup? I am pretty sure that you can put "pauses" in there to create the delays that you need. The link that Wavetar posted will work for you.

You can pretty much do whatever you want through batch commands.
