Ok. Someone straighten me out on this one.
I know what adapter is needed to upgrade the firmware on these radios.
With this adapter, I should be able to perform the upgrade with the standard RIB and the original "M" radio cable?
Also, does the RIBless cable come set up for both mobile and HTs or do you need a RIBless for each?

I believe you have to buy seperate "ribless" cables for both mobiles and portables. Concievably, you could probably modify an adapter so that you could use the ribless cable, but I don't know if they are different from eachother inside or not. If you need to program both, it's probably cheaper to buy the cables and the rib seperatly.

I am not positive, but to upgrade the firmware, I believe you need a flashport rib. I'm not sure, but that's my guess.

You do not need a ribless cable for the HT, just the standard programming cable , rib and rib to comm port cable but, for the CDM you need the boot strap adapter and the ribless cable. I have reflashed several LTR CDMs and HTs. If you have more questions let me know.

....so to do the HT, do you need the flash adapter instsalled on the computer side of the RIB?

I have never had to use a flash adapter to reflash the HT. For example on the band 2 uhf ht the flash tool for the TX current limit was an auto runnig program. It was an executable file that you open and it works like the RSS it does everything for you. If you want you can call me @18003226503 if I'm not there the receptionist can give you my mobile number. Also the newest release of the RSS has all the flash tools availabe for both the HT and CDM they are all similar to the rss as far as how they work.

Hi Aaron-tech, I think what you are referring to is the software patch for the TX final current limit problem. That does run without a flash adaptor, but to do a full flash upgrade, you certainly need the flash adaptor. As always, the Smartrib is not necessary.
