Getting audio into & out of my base via IP

Hi Fellow Batlabers

I know this can be done using mega expensive interfaces, but I am curious to know if someone knows how to do this a little cheaper for a one off event

I need to remotely mount a couple of my bases on a very high site to give me greater coverage for a public event. Normally I would simply run my balanced audio in & out from the bases and connect them into the talkback system.

As my base will now be 2 kilometres away that get a bit harder. I have direct access to a 5.8 ghz high band width IP link at either end, therefore I need a way to take my audio convert to IP and back again at either end. The base is constant TX so I don't need to key the base up.

Anyone know of any OEM VOIP modules or cheapish alternatives (I have about $1500 in my budget to achieve my link connections).

You have a couple of different options at your disposal. Some not so cheap, some cheaper. Here some ideas

(Expensive) JPS Raytheon NXU-2A Network Unit. This will work over Inter/Intranet and Microwave IP radios.

(Expensive) Telex IP 223 IP remote/Tone remote Unit. I believe that it will work over Inter/Intranet and Microwave IP radios. WIll control 2 radios.

(Not so expensive) Digital Acoustics Remote Intercom System. About $400 per side.

Thanks Rob, the Digital Acoustics devices fit within my budget so I will take a look at those as a good starting point, so thanks for the heads up on that item.

I did some scrounging with google and yahoo for OEM audio over IP modules and didn't really come up with much that looked like it would do the trick.

Thanks for the tip, if anyone else knows of anything I would also like to hear from them too.

For everyones information by way of follow up:

Received the pricing info, they are $1995 US Dollars the down side is there is a 12 week lead time.

They look brilliant, just waiting for them to put together their documentation and send it to me to review before I part with any of the folding stuff.
