HMN4079D Programming Issue

Post by rc50won »

HNM4079D on XTL5000 O5 Control Head
Model M20QSS9PW1AN
Flash: 580208-001C80-9
Firmware 12
CPS 12

When I try to program the three side buttons, the radio ignores what I program:

Upper/No-dot program as Scan gives me Unpr
Middle/1-dot program as ZnDn gives me Unpr
Bottom/2-dot program as ZnUp gives me Unpr

No matter what combinations I try, it does not take. Sometimes the Upper and Middle keys program but not correctly. The bottom 2-dot key never programs. I have tried programming the Trunk Side the same as the Conventional Side and also leaving the Trunk Side unprogrammed. The radio is used for Conventional only.

Do I have to tell the radio that there is an HNM4079 attached? How?

Okay, I'm confused.

Do you mean you have an 03 head and not an 05? There are no side buttons on an 05 head...

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

I suspect if you take them out as menu items for the soft keys on the head that they will start working on the DTMF mic.

Taking the duplicate commands out of the O5 head menu did not work.

I am seeing a pattern though. Whatever I program into the Upper/No-Dot button winds up being programmed into the O5 Head Red button. Items programmed into the 1 and 2 Dot buttons move up to the No-Dot and 1-Dot buttons and the 2-Dot button is blank. I can repeat this pattern with different commands.

At this point I am guessing that either I have a bad codeplug or I just discovered a firmware issue.

Guys,

Few questions about HMN4079D:

1. Any way to reprogram some of 4 top front buttons?
2. How to choose menu items from this mic? I am able to navigate through menu by navipad on mic, but I have no ideas how to select/press exact item.

P.S.
3 side buttons already programmed, but it's not enough for me.
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.
