I am using a RIB I originally successfully used with a spectra.
I bought the Astro Saber programming cable from KAWA.
Hooked up to an astro saber and at attempt to read, the rib light blinks 4 times, and I get a "Nextgen" error.
Does this mean they were written with a newer CPS?
Or is it the setup somehow?
NextGen10
Open Radio Failed
Error Context: 24, Status: c000039e
Thanks,
Matt

Re: NEXTGEN 10 ERROR in Astro Portable CPS
The error code means the software is unable to connect to the radio at all. So, it could be the RIB, cable, or radio. Hard to say which without known good replacements to swap. I'd suspect the cable simply because I've read so many posts about problems with them. However, the fact you're using an aftermarket RIB as well might be an issue. Sometimes they work for some radio models & not others.

Make sure you have a cable for an Astro Saber and not a regular Saber.... The aftermarket seller may not know there is a difference in the pinout...

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Re: NEXTGEN 10 ERROR in Astro Portable CPS
Sounds good. The cable itself does say "Astro Saber" on it.
I'll have to toy around and see if I can remedy it...
Thanks

Re: NEXTGEN 10 ERROR in Astro Portable CPS
I have never seen a "NextGen10" error in Astro series CPS, only in Astro25. Usually the error in AS is "communication with radio failed".....
Also, what RIB are you using? Battery OK? The light should not blink.

I have a suspicion. Which software version and release are you using?
Re: NEXTGEN 10 ERROR in Astro Portable CPS
CPS 12.
Am in Florida, and can't check the versions.... I'll get em when I get back.

Re: NEXTGEN 10 ERROR in Astro Portable CPS
There is no ASTRO Portable R12. You're attempting to use ASTRO 25 Portable R12 CPS... that's designed for the A25-platform radios like XTS1500/2500/4000/5000. You need to purchase Astro Portable for Astro Saber and XTS3000 - the most recent revision is R05.03.00 if memory serves.
Re: NEXTGEN 10 ERROR in Astro Portable CPS
Copy that. I thought astro25 portable CPS did Astro Sabers and 3000's.
