Is dxradiosystems the only game in town for paging transmitters anymore?? I need to install a local transmitter to cover about one sq. mi. VHF 169-170MHz, so 25-50W would be more than enough and it's duty cycle is probably 25% I like dxradio, but I need to get three bids, or write 25 pages to justify sole source. Thanks in advance...

I would look at a better constructed radio if I was you.
Have you ever used a DX radio?
They are low cost for a reason. Enough said.

I had not used DX radios before a few years ago. I took over a site that has one in place as their primary paging system and it's a rather important system. It was sold and installed by /\/\otorola. And, DX is still what Motorola sells and recommends for paging transmitters. That being said, this one has been in use for 5 1/2 years with a heavy duty cycle. So, my first few points of contact recommended DX and at just under $10K for a 50W transmitter (only) - I don't see that as being cheap. I am still open for suggestions. This is going in for life-safety, so it has to be solid. Thanks again for all your input!

I agree... Get a Quantar or MTR 2000 and use an aftermarket encoder/terminal such as a ZETRON DAPT or something...

IS the MTR2000 still available to order d119? I believe that the drop dead order date has either passed or will soon. I think com501 was on the ball...just wondering...

Well whatever in the hell it's called these days. I should know this as I do this for a living... MTR 3000. Same radio, new controller so it's supports MotoTRBO.
Yes, use an MTR 3000.
