I have a question about having a radio(s) serviced my Motorola. I know a "No Tag" radio is probably SOL getting serviced by Motorola but my question is about legit tagged radios. As an example would a XTS5000 that has all its tags but has been upgraded from a Model 1 to a Model 3 Still be legit? The tag has the "W5AN" (Model 1) and the radio displays "W7AN" (Model 3 - Full Keypad). Is this acceptable to Moto? Is the value also changed by this?
Thanks.........

Re: Serial & Model Number Tags
Also forgot to ask... Using the rule that for serial numbers on current models A=2000, B=2001, C=2002, etc, Why do I see Tags that have "M" for the year? That's 2012.....
One last one to pick your brain
I programmed an XTS5000 that had an S/N "H" code for date, 2007, yet when I looked at the codeplug the "1st programmed date" shown in the CPS was 2004.
Wuzz up with that? Will a radio sit around that long out of the factory and then get a Tag that far down the line?

Re: Serial & Model Number Tags
Sending radios to the depot without tags has not been a problem (for me) in a long, long time. They fix the radio as requested and put depot tags on it
Re: Serial & Model Number Tags
What model radio was it? M is actually 2011 (they omitted 'I') and 1987 for older models.W2WP wrote:Also forgot to ask... Using the rule that for serial numbers on current models A=2000, B=2001, C=2002, etc, Why do I see Tags that have "M" for the year? That's 2012.....

I've sent "upgraded" model 3 XTS5K's in and never had a problem, they do get "corrected" depot tags though.
Key is they had legit serial numbers, no ABC123xxxx stuff.
