Compact repeater / MC micro programming

Post by MM0TJR »

As a long-time consumer of Batlabs I thought that I would just make a report on my most recent motorola project, successfully aided by Batlabs again!

I have just successfully reprogrammed an old Compact repeater (Model MAL43EVM3206AT).... (!)
I believe this particular repeater has MC-Micro radio modules in its box.

I made up a programming cable based on the schematic here: http://www.batlabs.com/images/micro.gif
I substituted a British transistor, a BC 212. I found the resistor values to be non critical. I used a DB9 for the serial connector which has different pinning to the DB25 in the schematic.

I used Motorola Field Programming Software supplied with the repeater. It was on a bootable 3.5" floppy, and I successfully executed the program, and read and wrote to the repeater on a P-3 based desktop computer, CPU speed 733MHz.

anyone struggling to program or mess with this repeater Id be happy to help in any way I can, can find my details on QRZ.com thru callsign MM0TJR
