Hello,
I am attempting to get the radio id of the talking user to display on the channel icon in a centracom elite system. I am fairly positive that if i were using MDC on a conventional channel it would work. Problem is i have an 800mhz Trunking radio.. The ID's display on the radio however i am not sure how to get that info from the radio to display in the console.
I was told my local M dealer that i will need an additional server with a radio modem to bring in the id's of the air.
Any ideas?
Thanks
John

How does the console get the 800 MHz talkgroups you are using? Direct connect to the site? Off air via control station?

off air.. Via 800 radio / tone remote.

Hmm... Can't an ASTRO Consolette & ACIM combination provide this? If I recall correctly, a BIM/ACIM combo in the CEB digitally connected to an ASTRO consolette should provide both analog and ASTRO ID's to the console, along with emergency decode.
Without that or an AIMI or TIMI based connection, you're not going to get radio ID's.

Exactly right. I have Astro Consolettes (XTL5K with W7 head) plumbed into my CEB via BIM and ACIM and that will provide radio ID from the trunked system. This is used for backup if I lose my primary link to the Master site. If your CEB is on site it's either reconfigure your RF link to include the above or convert your RF link to a hardwire link using the AIMI or TIMI link modems to the the Site Controller.
Do you have a CEB on site or is your console position a remote (CIE with modem) to another location?

CEB Onsite..
And no connection to the site controller. Just the MCS2000 Mod 1 Radio.
What exactly is BIM/ACIM
Im to the knowledge level of dc vs tone remote.. and passing MDC over the same...

Only way you are going to do this is with a GenSAC system and a radio listening to the control channels.
The way it works is the GenSAC listens for ALL contorl channel info and then passes the ID's on the talkgroups that you specify.
All this feeds into the ADM (alias database manager) on the gold elite and it gets displayed on the console.
The manufacture of the software is Genesis Group (
www.genesisworld.com)
prepare the PO, it ain't cheap

Uh no...
Thats exactly what the BIM/ACIM combo does, he would need a xtl based consolette and a ACIM card. The ACIM is just a digital signalling modem, instead of tone control you could use SMP and digitally key the radio, select channels and display ptt id's for a lot cheaper than a GenSAC.

This I gotta see...
BIM/ACIM combo for an analog trunking system?? What part numbers and FW?
(He indicates using an MCS2000 as the control station...)

Clearly he would need to upgrade to an appropriately configured ASTRO Spectra, XTL 5000 or APX 7500 consolette, tpg...

I indicated he would need a consolette, guess I've never tried to do analog id's with a xtl and a acim.

Well the ACIM and consolette, plus the licensing from MOTO for the functionality might be less expensive than the GenSAC, but not by much and the implementation is going to offset that.
Genesys if nothing else will support their products fairly well. Not that Motorola doesn't, but they will not take food out of the mouths of their local MSS either. Genesys has no such loyalities and will work with an end user if needed to sell product. I don't like the idea of self implementation, but h's not in my teritory either.
All that being said, and to get to the brass tacks of it. He's on an Elite, not even a Gold Elite. He's using an MCS2K model 1 for a control station.
An A-Spec consolette is $7K the ACIM and BIM is $3K not sure on the software. GenSAC is about that money as well.
My take is that when he giveshis boss the quoted for both, they will QUICKLY decide that a centrally located Cimmaron unit is a better choice and may not have the budget for that even.

Uh, there isn't any Elite... Only Gold Elite.
Centracom I, Centracom II, Centracom II+, Centracom II+ CRT, Centracom Gold Classic, Centracom Gold B&L, Centracom Gold Elite
