APX7000 w/ MCC5500 Console Tones in P25/IMBE Issue

Post by RADIO43 »

Group,

Running into some issues here. We uses tones over our MCC5500 Console to alert officers to different situations in Conventional P25/IMBE. Right now we are using the straight tone and then the hi-low-hi-low tones which are the standard options on the MC5500 console. Believe its the Alert 1 and Alert 2 that Motorola places into the MCC5500 software. When receiving these tones, the APX7000 vocoder seems to suppress the tones for some reason. The XTS3k's and XTS5k's actually process the tones through the vocoder, really good. Am I missing something in the APX7k software why the tones are being suppressed on the APX7k?

Thank you in advance.

This may not be the issue, but you need to make sure the tone audio levels are low enough that they are not being compressed by the system. Digital systems don't like to pass tones and if they are sent too hot, this makes it even worse.

Jim,

Totally following you here but it seems interesting that there is a problem with APX7k's and not the XTS3k's and XTS5k's.

Are u running it through a diu or a consolette(ACIM port or SB9600)? I can try to replicate the issue with a consolette in the next few weeks.
