APX 7000

Is using the APX 7000 VHF/800 radio withthe Legacy Software Enable the CPS will only allow you a 3 digit hex for the talkgroups. Is there any way other than having an Advanced System Key to extend the allowable talkgroup number to 4 digits or is this problem related to my radio only.

Hello,

I have a VHF / 700 / 800 APX with the software system key option. I just tried it out, and I can definitely add talkgroups up to 4 digits in HEX. Running the latest firmware (R06.05.05) and latest CPS (R06.01.00)

Update- The 3 digit hex limitation is for the type II systems. It reminds me of the limitation that the type I radios had until the upgraded to type II

The talkgroup range needed is decimal 29000-38000. The APX software just will not allow these. As in the XTS series radios when programming these ranges, for ex. talkgroup 32016 is 7D10. When programming the XTS series the software leaves off the ending 0 so it appears as a 3 digit talkgroup. I have tried several different ways to enter these for a Type II Smartzone system in the APX software to no avail.

Wait a minute, do what?

First - I'm assuming your system is a Type II (not P25 trunking) system, correct?

Valid talkgroup ranges for this system would be 001h-FFEh, with FFFh being system-wide.

If 32016 is a talkgroup on this system, then it is a Uniden-style talkgroup ID. Converting to hex, the value is 7D10. Drop the 0 and enter 7D1 into the rightmost talkgroup field and it will work. In APX parlance, the decimal talkgroup would be 2001.

Yes type II system
32016 is the decimal ID
7D10 is the hex talk group ID
Not a valid talk group with APX software

You didn't read what tvsjr wrote.

32016 is a Uniden talkgroup number which converts to a Motorola hex talkgroup of 7d1 not 7d10.

You need drop the last zero.
